Zeiss Ikon Contax Rangefinder Cameras - A Quick Overview - Video - Jo Geier - Mint & Rare

Introduced in 1932 the Contax, produced by Zeiss Ikon in Dresden, was the major competitor to the LEItz CAmera.

At its release, it even trumped the Leica with some key features, such as the quickly interchangeable lenses due to its bayonett mount, the removeable film back to access and install the film more easily, and, because of its famous lenses, constructed by Carl Zeiss Jena.

In this short video, I show you the changes and upgrades between the first model of the Contax, the now so-called Contax I, the successor introduced in 1936, the Contax II and a late, post war model, the Contax IIIa, already produced in Stuttgart.

A variety of changes and upgrades have been made to the Contax within its lifespan, and I will try to show these in future videos.
