Exakta was a camera brand manufactured by the German company Ihagee and was particularly known for its SLR cameras. The first Exakta camera, the Exakta Varex, was introduced by Ihagee in 1936 and was characterized by an innovative design and a wide range of uses. The cameras were known for their sturdy construction and use of interchangeable lenses, which made them very popular among professional photographers. In the 1950s, Ihagee introduced improved features such as automatic exposure and precise viewfinders with the Exakta models. Despite strong competition from other brands, Exakta declined in importance in the 1970s and Ihagee eventually ceased production.
