Dallmeyer Lenses

Dallmeyer lenses (named after the optician John Henry Dallmeyer) are rare and some have a very high collector's value. Dallmeyer was a significant lens manufacturer in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The innovative work of Dallmeyer significantly contributed to the development of photography in general, particularly in the field of portrait photography, where new standards of image quality were set.

Dallmeyer lenses were crafted with the utmost craftsmanship and are characterized by precise manufacturing and high-quality materials. The fast Dallmeyer SUPER-SIX, SEPTAC Anastigmat and DALLAC lenses, known for their large apertures, enable excellent photography even in relatively low light conditions, with shallow depth of field.

Some Dallmeyer lenses are also referred to as "Petzval lenses" as many popular Dallmeyer lenses appeared in the so-called Petzval design, for example lenses of the series 3A, 3B, 4A or 4B, which was constructed (but never patented) in the 19th century by Joseph M. Petzval. This is characterized by a sharp center with soft - almost dreamy - bokeh all around, which can sometimes also be achieved by using special Soft Focus lenses. Authentic vintage photography, where these lenses, through the use of different types of glass, could also correct image flaws.
