Cine Lenses

Cine lenses are designed to meet the high demands of film and video production. Our focus is on rare vintage cine lenses from manufacturers like Astro Berlin, Angenieux, Canon, Cooke, Hugo Meyer, Kinoptik, Schneider, and Som Berthiot. We are always interested in acquiring cine lenses from these brands in good condition, carefully inspecting them, and then offering them in this shop category for our community.

Cine lenses are specifically developed for the film industry. They offer features that distinguish them from standard photography lenses. Depending on the lens, these features may include:

Precise focusing: Cine lenses offer fine and accurate focusing. They often come with a "long focus throw" (the distance from minimum to maximum focus), providing precise control over depth of field, which is crucial for cinematic shots and offers filmmakers increased comfort.

Robust construction: These lenses are built to be durable and withstand the harsh conditions on film sets. They are often weather-resistant and suitable for professional use.

Seamless aperture control: Cine lenses typically feature a stepless aperture control, allowing smooth adjustments of exposure during shooting without visible jumps in the image.

Minimal breathing: Unlike many photography lenses, cine lenses have minimal focus breathing. This means that the image composition remains largely unchanged when focusing, which is essential for consistent framing.

C-Mount compatibility: Many classic cine lenses use the C-Mount. This standard is particularly prevalent in older film cameras and specific video applications.

Features like these make cine lenses an essential choice for filmmakers who value quality, innovation, and reliability.
