Introduced in 1964, the Leicaflex was Leica's first 35mm SLR camera with a total production of around 37500 cameras of which only 1000 examples were made in black paint finish of the first version from serial number 1084001 - 1085000 (MK I) and 1000 examples of the second version from serial number 1168001 - 1169000 (MK II). The Leicaflex SL was produced from 1968 to 1974 from serial number 1173001 and ended at serial number 1375000 with a total production of around 71000 pieces.

The camera features full TTL (Through-The-Lens) metering. Only about 1080 SL MOT (motorized versions) were made in black anodized and black paint finish, making the black paint finished SL MOT the rarest of all black paint Leicaflex cameras. Unfortunately no exact figures are known.
The SL2 with its split-image focusing screen was only made for 3 years from serial number 1385001 to 1446000. It was manufactured in black anodized or silver chrome finish and only around 25500 cameras have been made including around 1000 SL2 MOT in black anodized finish.
Contrary to the video, only 4500 pieces of the black painted Leica M4 were manufactured (not 5000).
Of course a few special versions have been made which I will show in future videos.
